The Papers of Tony Veitch, published in London by Hodder & Stoughton, 1983.

First Edition, First Printing.

A superb copy of this second Detective Inspector Jack Laidlaw title which, along with its predecessor "Laidlaw", was awarded the Crime Writers' Association's SILVER DAGGER for Best Crime Novel.

McIlvanney is widely acknowledged as the founder - or Headmaster - of Tartan Noir, the school of gritty Scottish crime fiction which continues to thrive to this day.

An exceptional copy - minor pushing to the spine tips, the binding remains tight with minor bowing of the lower board. The text block just slightly toned, commensurate with age. Free from owner names etc, a lovely clean copy.

The dustjacket is unclipped and in great shape without tears, nicks or creases. Minor tanning to the flaps.

Fine in Fine dustjacket and the book has been signed and inscribed by the author - not once but twice! At the front endpaper he has originally written "With Best Wishes, Willie McIlvanney" and at a later signing event added, "(and again in 2013)" with the second signature below.

A wonderful copy of a keynote title by this important Scottish author.
