Original Finnish first-screening poster for A Lady to Love (1930), the MGM pre-code drama starring Vilma Banky, Edward G. Robinson, and Joseph Schildkraut. Distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Helsinki. The film premiered in Finland in September 1930.
A Lady to Love was one of Vilma Banky’s final films — the transition to sound effectively ended her career as one of silent cinema’s great stars, making pre-code material featuring her increasingly scarce. Edward G. Robinson, by contrast, was on the cusp of his breakthrough; Little Caesar followed just months later.
Condition: prominent fold lines in both directions; small patch of discolouration around the seam near the top of the vertical fold. Not a single nick or tear to the edges. No staining or other marks. Near Fine — quite remarkable for a piece approaching 100 years old.
