Tove Jansson - Bildhuggarens Dotter (Sculptor's Daughter): A Signed Presentation Copy of the Original First Edition

Bildhuggarens Dotter (Sculptor’s Daughter) by Tove Jansson, first edition, first printing, published by Schildts, Helsinki, 1968. Printed in the original Swedish language. Softcover in dustjacket (fixed to the book at the spine), pp. 146, index. 21 x 13 cm, edges untrimmed. Plain white card covers.

A signed presentation copy of this important autobiographical work, inscribed by the author to her godmother, the Finnish artist Ragni Cawen. At the front endpaper, Jansson has written “Till Ragni av Tove. -68” and drawn a small heart beneath, a uniquely tender and personal association.

Sculptor’s Daughter is one of Jansson’s most autobiographical works, drawing on her childhood memories growing up in an artistic Helsinki family. An association copy connecting directly to Jansson’s personal circle is exceptionally rare.

Shelf-worn at the edges and corners of the covers and showing its age, but overall in Very Good condition.
