Tom Wolfe - Typed Letter Signed, 1979

Tom Wolfe (1930–2018) was an American author and journalist, one of the founders of New Journalism and author of The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test (1968), The Right Stuff (1979), and The Bonfire of the Vanities (1987). Known for his distinctive calligraphic signature, his correspondence is sought after by collectors of American literature and journalism.

A single-sheet typed letter from Tom Wolfe to the English critic and author Ronald Hayman, thanking him for an article Hayman wrote about him for Books and Bookmen. Dated 1979 — the year of publication of The Right Stuff.

Wolfe writes: "Your piece is terrific. I can't imagine how you ever did it so well, given the chaotic circumstances of our conversations..."

Elaborately inscribed and signed in his usual calligraphic style.
