First thus, the first printing of the UK edition published by Jonathan Cape. An epic novel in every sense of the word, not least in volume, at 1085 pages.
Large, heavy hardcover editions like this are prone to losing their shape over time but this example remains tightly bound and square. Pushed at both spine tip areas and the text-block has tanned with age but neat and tidy in appearance and free from owner names etc. A Very Good condition copy, perhaps Near Fine.
The dustjacket is unclipped and free from nicks or tears but at the lower panel there is an abrasion to the surface around the printed barcode, consistent with the clumsy removal of a sticky label or similar. Not unduly noticeable and a Very Good dustjacket otherwise with just minor marks/soiling to its white margins and a crease at the crown.
A nice copy of this mammoth novel and the UK edition is uncommon
