The Giant of Marathon. A Cinema-Used Vintage Movie Poster, 1960

An original Finnish first-screening poster for The Giant of Marathon (La Battaglia di Maratona, 1959), the Italian/French peplum epic starring Steve Reeves, the definitive face of the sword-and-sandal genre following his breakthrough in Hercules (1958). Directed by Jacques Tourneur, the celebrated Hollywood director of Cat People (1942) and Out of the Past (1947).

First screened in Finland in 1960 with no subsequent theatrical releases. Standard Finnish A2, approximately 23.5 × 16 inches. Artist-signed in the plate. A beautifully illustrated poster, a stunning example of late-1950s European cinema art and design.

Condition: Fine or better. Cinema-used with pinholes present. Unfolded; no chips or tears to the edges. One small crease to the upper right corner. Exceptional condition for a cinema-used example.
