THE ANDY WARHOL DIARIES. Edited by Pat Hackett.
Published in London by Simon and Schuster, 1989.
First Edition, First Printing, Hardcover in Dustjacket.
From the dustjacket blurb: "He was an artist, a celebrity, and since his untimely death in 1987, he has become a legend. But Andy Warhol, the man, has always remained a mystery. The Andy Warhol Diaries is the closest thing there will ever be to Andy Warhol's autobiography - yet it is more honest and revealing than an autobiography could ever be."
Condensed from the original 20,000 manuscript pages, this mammoth book perfectly captures the life and idiosyncrasies of this cultural icon. Insightful and very funny by turns it provides a near-perfect representation of his thoughts and experiences during his most successful years.
Bound in black cloth with gilt titles at the backstrip, 807 pages, illustrated with photographs.
A Very Good-condition copy in dustjacket which is not price-clipped. This very heavy book is slightly shaken and the text-block has pulled away from the backstrip but the book remains square and in nice shape. Some minor toning and light dust-staining to the edges of the text-block but remains clean and free from previous owner names etc.
The dustjacket is just slightly stretched with a small nick to the foot of the spine and rubbing to the upper corners with some small loss of the laminate. Unclipped and otherwise in VG clean condition.
A nice copy of an edition which is becoming hard-to-find - and an important historical document.
