Signé Arséne Lupin - A Vintage Finnish Movie Poster

A vintage Finnish movie poster for the French/Italian production Signé Arséne Lupin starring Robert Lamoureux  and directed by Yves Robert.

The film premiered in Finland in January 1961 in Helsinki. There are no other recorded theatrical releases.

You are looking at a Finnish "tour" poster printed for distribution to the small regional cinemas and other venues (e.g. clubs, village halls etc) outside of the main cities following a theatrical run in the Capital and major cities. 

Finnish tour posters were re-sized, reprintings of studio/distributor-issued lobby posters, usually narrower and longer to accommodate spaces for entering information about screening times, ticket prices and venue etc. They were usually trashed after use but were sometimes surplus to requirements if demand for hiring the movie was lower than anticipated and so occasionally resurface nowadays in unused condition. This is one such example.

Measures 18.5" by 27.5" approx (47 cm x 70 cm approx).  Full bleed, no artist or printer information.

The size of this poster is outside the norm and the paper quality is much better than most other examples from the era. In addition, the condition of the poster is unequivocally C10. For these reasons, I am unable to suggest a publication date for this poster. The only thing I can say is that it is surely too good to be circa 1961 - more likely 1970's or later. I can state, however, that it is not a reproduction.

In faultless condition - rolled, no pinholes, paste residue or clamping marks, certainly an unused example. The verso is also unmarked.
