Richmal Crompton (1890–1969) created the Just William series in 1922, and it remains one of the best-loved and most enduring children’s series in English literature. Signed copies, particularly inscribed presentation copies, are scarce.

This copy has been inscribed at the flyleaf to the original owner by Richmal Crompton, “with all good wishes from” - a characteristically warm presentation inscription.

Condition: Well-read but in reasonable order. Original green cloth gilt. Upper cover bowing slightly; coloured top edge faded; faint spotting to fore-edge; edges slightly marked/soiled; very occasional marginal spots internally. Dustjacket unclipped and fairly bright; some minor staining to the rear panel margins; shelf-worn at extremities; minor splitting to upper corners but no substantial loss. Overall a nice jacket. Good/Very Good.
