Published in London by Gollancz, 1974. Second Edition, First printing, Hardcover in dustjacket.

A superb copy of this "extraordinary detective novel" by German author Ernest Borneman, writing in English as "Cameron McCabe" - chief protagonist in the actual story. Not only a crime writer, Borneman was also a filmmaker, anthropologist, ethnomusicologist, psychoanalyst, sexologist, communist agitator, jazz musician and critic.

The book was originally published in 1937 and although it drew favourable reviews at the time seems to have garnered mostly a cult following over the years, culminating in this reissue by Gollancz in 1974. Neither the first nor this second edition are easy to find.

Condition: an excellent, fresh copy with very few signs of previous use, certainly Fine in Fine unclipped dustjacket.
