A limited edition print of the Oz Magazine cover for number 37 (1971), Angry OZ. The original artwork by Peter "Hack" Brookes.

Although numbered /200 this is such a rarity that I am inclined to believe that the actual number of prints produced was considerably smaller than 200.

"Angry Oz" was the counter-culture magazine's response to the outcome of the infamous Old Bailey obscenity trial which saw co-editors Richard Neville, Jim Anderson and Felix Dennis handed prison sentences.

There are neither dates nor printed publisher info on the print which I believe to be a high-quality giclee print. On thick paperstock, portrait format, the sheet measures 21.5 inches by 30.5 inches. The print is numbered in pencil lower left and signed in pencil lower middle by Richard Neville, co-founder and long-standing editor, both in Australia and the UK.

The poster dates from circa 2011 and it was produced in Australia - it is possible that Martin Sharp was involved in its production but that is merely speculation on my part.

Condition: The print has remained rolled since creation and is in pristine condition with a couple of minor handling creases to extreme edges. Entirely free from any kind of spotting or finger-marks etc. A fascinating item, either as a stand-alone artwork or as an outstanding item of cultural memorabilia - particularly with Neville's signature.

Provenance: from the estate of Felix Dennis, Oz co-editor and co-defendant in the obscenity trial. The print was sent to Felix Dennis from Australia by Richard Neville in 2012. A wonderful association piece, therefore, as well as an attractive art-work which would grace anyone's wall.
