Johnny Stool Pigeon. An Original, First Screening Movie Poster, 1950

An original Finnish first-screening poster for Johnny Stool Pigeon (1949), the Universal-International crime noir starring Howard Duff, Shelley Winters, and Dan Duryea. Duryea remains one of Hollywood’s most compelling screen villains of the noir era. First screened in Finnish cinemas in 1950 with no subsequent theatrical runs.

Standard Finnish A2, approximately 60 × 40 cm. Artist-signed in the plate. Printed on extremely thin paper and it is quite remarkable that it has survived 75+ years in such fine condition.

Condition: Fine. Cinema-used. Slanted fold line near the top, visible only from the verso, none to the centre. One mounting hole at the top of the title text with a small enclosed tear surrounding it (almost invisible: the poster appears to have been pulled from its mounting). Short tear and small nick to the bottom edge. Minor handling creases to the edges only. Bright, clean, and vivid throughout. Excellent graphics and design.
