John le Carré - Autograph Letter Signed and Signed Photograph, 1991

An autograph letter signed by John le Carré (1931–2020), pen name of David Cornwell — one of the most celebrated British novelists of the twentieth century, best known for The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and The Constant Gardener.

Written to the publisher Rolando Pieraccini in 1991, in which le Carré declines an invitation to contribute to a proposed book:

“I respect your good intentions and I hope they are well received but I’m afraid I cannot subscribe to your project…”

Together with a large-format signed photograph of le Carré.

A scarce autograph from an author who was notably private and who rarely gave interviews or signed outside of book events. Le Carré’s signed material is consistently sought after by collectors of modern literary manuscripts and espionage fiction.
