An interesting collection of correspondence from J.M. Coetzee comprising one autograph letter with accompanying signed photograph and three typed letters signed, spanning 1985 to 1999.
J.M. Coetzee (born 1940) is a South African novelist who has won the Booker Prize twice, for Life and Times of Michael K (1983) and Disgrace (1999), and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2003. His major works include Waiting for the Barbarians (1980), Foe (1986), and Elizabeth Costello (2003). The correspondence in this collection spans his most celebrated period.
Autograph Letter Signed and Photograph. Replying to Siv Lind, Coetzee explains that he has not received her earlier letters and encloses a signed photograph. The photograph measures approximately 8 x 12.5 cm and is signed on the verso. Includes the original envelope, addressed by hand.
Typed Letter Signed. On aerogram paper, to a journalist, declining an interview. Dated May 1985.
Typed Letter Signed. On aerogram paper, to Tuula Wilander, answering a query about Russian editions of his books. Dated August 1986.
