A fascinating archive of signed letters and documents pertaining to the American Sci-Fi master, Isaac Asimov.
The collection comprises 6 typed letters on the author's letterhead, a typed questionnaire with autograph inscriptions, a postcard with autograph signature, an autograph letter (on postcard) and one photograph signed. 2 of the original envelopes are also included.
Typed Letters Signed:
1. 26 Aug, 1979 - pp.1, to Siv Lind. In which he complains about signing books which takes too much time. For this reason he has..."long since decided no longer to fulfil these tasks. I'm sorry, but I grow old and must concentrate on my work".
2. 8 Nov, 1984 - pp. 1, to publisher Rolando Pieraccini. In which he discusses foreign rights to his works. "I have no control over them whatever and you must deal with Doubleday".
3. 8 Nov, 1984 - pp. 1, to publisher Rolando Pieraccini. In which Mr Asimov lists his favourite short stories and assures the publisher that he will sign the title pages of his books "as my contribution to making the book more available to my Finnish readers."
4. 19 Dec, 1984 - pp.1, to Renata Mattioli. Responding to a request for information about how many copies of his books have been sold and translated, the author replies, "I haven't got the least idea.....I suspect the FOUNDATION SERIES has been the most translated and most sold.....I think I have been translated into at least forty languages....."
5. 11 Feb, 1985 - pp. 1, to Peter Michielsen. In which he refuses to be interviewed by the journalist having "...developed a severe allergy to the whole thing..." adding "...I don't have a "few hours" even to speak with my wife, let alone be interviewed....."
6. 10 Feb, 1986 - pp. 1, to publisher Rolando Pieraccini. In which the author asks the publisher for instructions about how and where he should sign the material being sent to him.
Typed Questionnaire with Autograph Inscriptions
A one page, pre-drafted letter with three questions sent to the author which has been answered with short autograph inscriptions and signed.

On the back of a postcard, 13 hand-written lines in which the author describes the Foundation series character, Gaal Dornick.

While he was a somewhat prodigious letter-writer, few examples of Isaac Asimov's correspondence are currently available on the market, making this collection particularly significant.
