A fascinating and revealing full-page (A-4 sized), typewritten letter to a female acquaintance by the American literary giant which he has hand-corrected and signed in ink.

Dated 10/06/59 and addressed simply "Big Sur", the letter comprises some 53 lines and is written to "Sola". It is evidently one of several which have been swapped with his correspondent following an earlier encounter - "I wanted very much, you know, to go to Sweden with you. But there happened, as we talked, things I can't speak of and I decided against it. (Nothing to do with you.)".

Miller opens the letter with an account of his previous morning..."just as I was about to take breakfast (alone), I had a great fit of weeping and sobbing." and proceeds to comment about religion before moving onto astrological matters..."My spirits have been very low recently. As you see from my chart, I am going through a bad period, like I did in 1929 and 1930, when I left Mona and went to Paris.", adding below - "According to my Danish friend, the astrologer...Saturn will stop bothering me after the end of this year."

In Very Good clean condition, prominent horizontal folding line to middle with two further, prominent, vertical folding creases but clean and complete, without nicks or tears.

Signed "Henry Miller" at the bottom in ink- presumably with a fountain pen as 'splodged' at the beginning of "Henry".
