Stanley Kubrick's Dr Strangelove - Original Movie Poster Circa 1981

An original Finnish movie poster for Stanley Kubrick's comedic masterpiece, Dr Strangelove, starring Peter Sellers, George C. Scott and Sterling Hayden.

The film was first screened in Finland in May, 1964. It was re-screened at the Charlie 1 cinema in Helsinki in 1981, however, and it is our opinion that this poster is associated with that later showing. The criteria for this assessment are chiefly: 1. the thickness and quality of the paper stock and 2. the pixellation of the photographic images and overall sheen to its finish. Likely a straightforward re-printing of the original 1960's poster.

Nevertheless, an extremely rare poster from either era, the first example we have ever handled or even seen.

Standard Finnish A2 format for cinema lobby and display posters, approximately 40cm x 60cm. Full bleed, signed in the plate by the artist, printed by Lito-Print Oy.

Condition; unused, C9 - not a grading to be assigned lightly. Probably not distributed, certainly never displayed, without any signs of mounting. No folding crease. Minor handling crease to bottom right corner and microscopic nick to right edge near bottom. 

A near-perfect example of a very scarce poster.
