DEVIL MONSTER (The Sea Fiend) - Vintage Finnish Tour Poster

A Finnish "tour" movie poster for the American action-adventure horror film DEVIL MONSTER , starring Barry Norton and directed by S. Edwin Graham. Also known as The Sea Fiend and The Great Manta the film was first released in 1936 and a re-edited version was released as Devil Monster in 1946. This poster advertises that second release.

You are looking at a Finnish "tour" poster printed for distribution to the small regional cinemas and other venues (e.g. clubs, village halls etc) outside of the main cities following an initial theatrical run. This movie was first screened in Helsinki at the Aloha Theatre in July 1947, dating this poster to later that year.

Finnish tour posters are normally re-sized re-printings of studio/distributor-issued lobby posters, usually narrower and longer to accommodate spaces for entering information about screening times, ticket prices and venue etc. They were sometimes surplus to requirements if demand for hiring the movie was low and so occasionally resurface nowadays in unused condition. This is one such example.

Measures 16" by 23" approx. The poster was printed by Kirjapaino Jaakkoo Osakeyhtiö of Turku (established 1936).

In excellent clean condition, a rolled poster without folding creases. A small tear to the left margin midway and a small handling crease lower down in the same margin. No pinholes, paste residue or clamping marks, certainly an unused example. The verso is unmarked.
